Sustainability and impact

Good agricultural practices

Measure what your farmers actually apply in the field.

Training farmers is not enough: your partners want to know which practices are adopted, where and by whom. This module links every session, every attendance and every plot visit to the Sankora register.

Why it matters

Why track adoption

01

Results to demonstrate

Sustainability programmes and buyers ask for measured results, not just attendance lists. The adoption rate per practice becomes the indicator that matters.

02

Unreliable attendance sheets

Paper attendance sheets get lost, are copied badly and do not show who was really trained. Phone entry, dated and located, makes training verifiable.

03

Better support for farmers

Pruning, upkeep, shade or disease management: each practice is tracked plot by plot. You see where support is lacking, farmer by farmer.

04

Target communities that lag behind

Without figures per community, training effort is spread at random. Adoption rates by section or village show where to focus the next sessions.

How it works

How the module works

  1. 1

    Training plan

You define the practices to track and the planned sessions, by community. The farmers concerned come straight from the register.

  2. 2

Sessions and attendance on the phone

The trainer records the session and attendance on the Sankora Android app, even offline. Forms are sent as soon as the network is back.

  3. 3

    Plot visits

A field officer checks in the field which practices the farmer applies. The visit is linked to the plot in the register and to the position recorded by the phone.

  4. 4

    Adoption rates

Sankora computes adoption of each practice by farmer, community and section. You follow progress from one season to the next.

  5. 5

    Results for your partners

Results are shared as aggregated indicators. Your partners see progress without accessing farmers' personal data.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions about this service.

Is the module available yet?

It is in development, built with our first pilot customers. It builds on the register and the mobile app already in use in Sankora.

Is a network connection needed in the field?

No. As with Data4Child, data is entered offline and forms are sent at the next sync.

Can we track our own practices?

Yes, that is the idea behind the module: each organisation tracks the practices of its commodity and programme.

How can we become a pilot customer?

Get in touch. We are building this module with cooperatives and programmes that have training under way.
