Farm renovation

Follow every seedling, from distribution to production.

Ageing farms weigh on yields and on farmers' incomes. This module tracks your planting and pruning programmes plot by plot, starting from the Sankora register.

Why it matters

Why track renovation

01

Farms that need renewing

A plantation's age affects its output. Sankora already factors it into each plot's estimated output; renovation is the lever to bring it back up.

02

Seedlings handed out, but how many survive?

A distribution programme is judged by seedling survival, not by the number handed out. Without follow-up, losses stay hidden until the project ends.

03

Show where seedlings are planted

Funders want to know which plots the seedlings went to. Geolocated planting, linked to a plot in the register, answers that question.

04

Avoid creating a new EUDR risk

Planting on a plot deforested after 2020 or in a classified forest creates a compliance problem. The module builds on plots already checked and analysed in Sankora.

How it works

How the module works

  1. 1

    Choosing plots

You select the plots to renovate or prune from the register. Their geolocation and deforestation status are already known.

  2. 2

    Seedling distribution

Each seedling hand-out is recorded against the farmer, with the number and date. You know at any time what was distributed and to whom.

  3. 3

    Geolocated planting

The field officer confirms planting on the plot, with the phone's position. Data is entered offline in the Sankora Android app.

  4. 4

    Survival follow-up

Follow-up visits count living seedlings at regular intervals. The survival rate is tracked by plot and by community.

  5. 5

    Pruning and rehabilitation

Pruning and coppicing operations are recorded plot by plot. You follow programme progress and the area treated.

Who it is for

Cooperatives

Organise seedling distribution and show your partners what was planted and what survived.

Exporters

Follow the renovation programmes you fund in your partner cooperatives.

Buyers and brands

Get field-measured results for your productivity and sustainability commitments.

Programmes and NGOs

Run your planting and pruning projects plot by plot and report to your donors.

What you get

A renovation programme tracked seedling by seedling, with results your funders can verify.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions about this service.

Is the module available yet?

It is in development, built with our first pilot customers. It builds on the register and the mobile app already in use in Sankora.

Does tracking work offline?

Yes. Data is entered offline in the Android app and forms are sent at the next sync.

Does a new planting enter the register?

Yes, like any plot: field survey, polygon check and deforestation analysis. Sankora never creates coordinates in place of the field.

How can we become a pilot customer?

Get in touch. We are building this module with cooperatives and programmes that have renovation projects under way.
